Good Grief-Another Weather Cancellation for Groves Academy Griffins

The weather picture has not been kind to the Groves Academy Griffins boys basketball team.

Last Thursday, January 31, their game against the Avail Academy Valor was postponed due to the extremely cold weather and rescheduled for the following Thursday, February 7.

On Tuesday, February 5, the Griffins were supposed to head up to Otsego to take on Kaleidoscope Charter School but a snowstorm wiped out that game, too.

But wait, there's more!  The rescheduled game against Avail Academy for tonight was also canceled due to Avail's school closing and the heavy snow that has pelted the Twin Cities area.

No word on whether those two games will be rescheduled again but it's unlikely that there will be another rescheduling due to the shortage of open dates prior to the Twin Cities Athletic Conference Tournament that begins Thursday, February 28 and the start of Section 4A tournament play Monday, March 4.

So the Griffins, whose record remains at 4-10 has not had a game since January 25 against Hmong Academy.  They will have three games next week (weather permitting of course) that begins with a game on Monday, February 11 at 7 PM at Hiawatha Collegiate in Minneapolis.  Groves Academy will wrap up their home schedule on Tuesday, February 12 against the Shattuck-St. Mary's Sabers and Friday, February 15 against Lakes International Language Academy.  Both games begin at 6 PM.

Hopefully, the weather picture will be more favorable next week.
