No London? No Problem for East Ridge Raptors In Homecoming Win Over CDH Raiders

It was Homecoming Friday night for the East Ridge Raptors as they played without their top running back Dominik London and came away with a 21-7 win over the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders.

Neither team scored in the first quarter but the Raiders came close to taking the early lead on an 85 yard touchdown pass but it was called back due to a penalty.  The Raptors suffered a big loss late in the quarter when London left the game due to an injury.  According to the senior running back in a post game interview, it was a sprained ankle.

East Ridge reached the end zone twice in the second quarter. The first touchdown came on a two yard run up the middle by Jaron Pittman.  The second came on defense when TJ Kelly intercepted Jackson Crawford's pass and went 25 yards for a touchdown. It was 14-0 Raptors.  Cretin-Derham Hall got on the scoreboard after Marquell Thompson led the Raiders close to the goal line by gaining 58 yards on the drive. Then Crawford on fourth and goal scored on a one yard keeper. The Raiders go the ball back after a fumbled kickoff but they couldn't capitalize on the recovery following a 16 yard sack from Will Walker.   East Ridge led at the half 14-7.

The Raptors would wrap up the scoring in the third quarter when AJ Tittle got a hand off and ran like he was headed to Radio Dr.as he scored an 80 yard touchdown.

East Ridge improved their record to 4-1 and Cretin-Derham Hall fell to an identical  4-1 record. Both teas return to action on Friday, October 7 at 7 PM.  The Raptors will play at Forest Lake and the Raiders will host Roseville at O'Shaughnessy Stadium on the University of St. Thomas campus.
