Who's Left Standing in Class A Boys Basketball Sections

Here it is.  The final section preview of the winter sports season as well as who is left in some of the eight Class A sections.

Section 1 looks like four teams have a chance to head to Minneapolis as the top seeded goodhue wildcats, the second seeded Spring Grove Lions, winners of 24 straight games followed by the third seeded and defending state champion Hayfield Vikings and fourth seeded Lyle/Austin Pacelli.

Heading to Section 2, in the North Subsection, the top two seeds are the Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Saints and the BOLD Warriors.  It's a three team race in the South Subsection with top seeded United South Central, the second seeded Mankato Loyola Crusaders and third seeded Mountain Lake/Comfrey.

Section 3 is another tough section with the top three seeds in the North Subsection the Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks, Lakeview and the Central MN Christian Bluejays.  It could be a four team race in the South Subsection with the top seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights, the second seeded Southwest MN Christian Eagles, third seeded Westbrook-Walnut Grove and fourth seeded Murray County Central.  Could there be an All Christian School section final?

The top seed in Section 4 is the New Life Academy Eagles.  But there are three other schools who have a shot at their first trip to Minneapolis.  They are second seeded Legacy Christian, third seeded Liberty Classical Academy and fourth seeded Metro Schools College Prep.  Is history in the making in this section?

The top seed in the Section 5 East subsection, the Barnum Bombers ended their season on a six game losing streak and hope to get back on track but second seeded East Central and third seeded Kaleidoscope Charter could keep the Barnum fan buses from heading down I-35.  The top seed in the West Subsection is Nevis.  But look out for second seeded Pine River-Backus and third seeded Browerville-Eagle Valley.

It will be a battle in the Section 6 North Subsection between the top seeded Henning Hornets and the second seeded Battle Lake Battlers.  A bigger battle is in the South Subsection is between top seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, second seeded Border West and third seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Another puzzling section is Section 7, as top seeded Deer River ended the regular season on an 11 game winning streak.  Second seeded Cherry has an outstanding junior who committed to the Gophers, Isaac Asuna, followed by third seeded Northland and fourth seeded Mountain Iron-Buhl.  Who will make the trip to The Barn?

The last section is Section 8 with a couple of top teams in the East Subsection, the top seeded Fosston Greyhounds and the second seeded Cass Lake-Bena Panthers.  The West Subsection is a three team race between top seeded Sacred Heart, second seeded Warren-Alvarado-Oslo and third seeded Northern Freeze.  Outstanding basketball action up north.
