Kennedy and Cooper Leaving Metro West Conference for Tri-Metro

When the 2022-23 high school sports season begins in late August, the Metro West Conference will be minus two schools.

That's because Bloomington Kennedy and Cooper will leave the Metro West to join the Tri-Metro Conference.  The conference will expand to nine teams with Brooklyn Center departing for the Skyline Conference.

According to Kennedy activities director Jon Anderson in the February 23 Sun Current "We're excited to play new teams, see some different schools, play in some different locations. "

The change was made due to a change in demographics and enrollment size.

It will be a shorter commute for Kennedy, since they will join Richfield and Holy Angels in the Tri-Metro.

As for Kennedy and Cooper's city rivals, there will be no conference change.  Jefferson will remain in the Metro West and Armstrong, based in Plymouth will stay in the Northwest Suburban.
