Minnehaha Academy Redhawks Rout St. Peter Saints

Taytum Rhoades help pave the road to the Class AA semifinals for the Minnehaha Academy Redhawks with a game high 15 points en route to a 56-37 win over the St. Peter Saints in the Class AA state quarterfinals Wednesday night at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus.

Tanna Gallo would open the scoring for the Redhawks with a three pointer :31 into the game.  Jacey Welp would be an early bright spot for the Saints, scoring St. Peter's first five points.  Rhoades would score to regain the lead for Minnehaha Academy and Signe Alger would hit from Cedar-Riverside to tie the game at eight.  Grace Remmert and Sarah Conlon would help the Saints on a 7-0 run.  The Redhawks would forge into the lead on a couple of three point plays.  The first was by Rhoades and the second came from Avery New.  Even the Minnehaha Academy bench would contribute as Telia Graham would score four straight points to help the Redhawks lead 27-18 at halftime.

Mia Curtis would begin the scoring for the Redhawks, hitting a three pointer 1:31 into the second half.  Rhoades and Navaeh Galloway would help propel Minnehaha Academy on a 7-0 run.  Rhoades, a candidate for Ms. basketball, showed outstanding athleticism when she made a right handed scoop shot.  The Saints would get some help from conlon but it wasn't enough as the athletic Redhawks would pull away from the Saints.

Other Minnehaha Academy players in double figures were Gallo and Curtis with 11 points.  Galloway contributed 10 points.  New had 13 rebounds and four assists.  Conlon would lead St. Peter with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was the only Saint in double figures.

The Redhawks improved their record to 21-6 and will face the Albany Huskies in the Class AA semifinals on Friday, March 15 at 8 PM at Williams Arena.  The Saints fell to 16-11 and will take on the Holy Family Catholic Fire in the Class AA semifinals on Thursday, March 14 at 8 PM at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul.
