Coming off a dramatic overtime win Friday night against the North Shore Storm, the St. Louis Park Orioles showed no signs of fatigue as Willy Basill scored a hat trick and Bauer Neudecker added two goals to lead them to a 8-3 win over the Bloomington Kennedy Eagles Saturday afternoon at The Rec Center.
The Orioles won their ninth straight game.
St. Louis Park controlled much of the first period but it was Kennedy who got the early lead in the first period on a left slot goal from Cole Lindstrom. The Orioles would tie the game on Riley Dvorak's power play goal from the right slot and vault into the lead on Basill's first goal that came off a shot from the left corner boards.
In the second period, the Orioles struck quickly with two goals in the first minute. Grant Plender scored a power play goal on a wraparound rebound and Basill scored his second goal :25 later from the left point. Basill would get the hat trick as he got a pass on the right doorstep from Brenton Ryan and he scored to put St. Louis Park ahead by three. The Eagles would end the Orioles run as Zachary Workman got a pass from Edge Choudek an he went top shelf to cut the lead to two. St. Louis Park would counter :33 later as Luke Mobhley, who got the game winner last night against the Storm, scored off a pass from Conor Schubring. Lindstrom would wrap up the second period scoring with his second goal.
The third period would be a showcase for Bauer Neudecker as he scored both St. Louis Park goals. His first came on a centering pass from Shea Pekarek and his second came after he got a pass from Austin Stafne, cut through the center slot and put the puck in the net.
St. Louis Park out shot Kennedy 55-17.
The Orioles improved their record to 12-3 and will return to action on Tuesday, January 17 to face the Chanhassen Storm at the Victoria Fieldhoise at 7 PM. The Eagles fell to 3-12-2 and will host the Chaska Hawks on Saturday, January 21 at 7 PM at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
