If you don't plan on driving to Stillwater Saturday for Hockey Day Minnesota, there's plenty of action in St. Louis Park as both the Hopkins/Park girls and St. Louis Park boys hockey teams will be at The Rec Center that day.
First up is the Hopkins/Park girls as they host the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers in a 2 PM game. Both teams have been headed downhill. The Hilltoppers have lost nine out of their last ten games with a 2-2 against Moose Lake area on December 13. Hopkins/Park has lost four in a row, including a couple of 7-1 games to Lake Conference rivals Minnetonka and Edina. It's their second and final home game this season in St. Louis Park. They won the first game on December 22 as they came from behind to beat the Eagan Wildcats 3-2.
Following the girls game, take a dinner break and return to see the St. Louis Park Orioles battle the Bloomington Jefferson jaguars in boys hockey action at 7 PM. The Orioles had their nine game winning streak end on January 17 as they were shut out by the Chanhassen Storm 3-0. Oh how the mighty have fallen as the Jaguars go into Saturday's game with a record of 3-10-2 with the most recent win on January 12 against the East Ridge Raptors. One of Minnesota's most dominant teams in the early 90s has suffered from it's slowest start in years.
So take your pick. Whether you decide to watch Fox Sports North's day long marathon of high school games, Gopher men's hockey and the Wild or drive down Highway 36 toward Lowell Park in Stillwater, you can save yourself the lengthy trip and head over to the Rec Center for plenty of high school hockey.
