It was a chill Saturday afternoon in St. Louis Park but the Oriole boys soccer team heated up the net with four different players scoring to shut out the Eden Prairie Eagles 4-0.
The Orioles scored their lone goal of the first half on s right side shot from Sam Diamond that entered the net. St. Louis Park led 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, the Orioles sent the Eagles back down Highway 169 with three unanswered goals. Sam Gage would score off a corner kick to put St. Louis Park ahead by two. The margin would increase to three 1:13 later on Thomas Salamzadeh's liner that went past Eden Prairie goalkeeper Ben Urban. The Orioles showed that they had no stars when a fourth player would send the ball to the net and it would be David Benjamin's center slot goal with 12:38 remaining in the game.
Eagles head coach Rob St. Clair told HSGN on how long time head coach Vince Thomas, who retired after 36 years leading Eden Prairie was influential to him.
"What he was like as a teacher as a man as a person. He treats everyone with respect."
St. Louis Park improved their record to 11-0-1 and travels to Chanhassen on Thursday, October 4 to take on the Storm at 5 PM. Eden Prairie fell to 1-6-2 and lost their third straight game and fourth in their last five. They will be back in action on Monday, October 1 against the Edina Hornets at Kuhlman Stadium at 5 PM. The game was rescheduled from September 20 due to the torrential rains that soaked the Twin Cities area.
