Cole Cheeseman brought the cheddar back to Richfield as he scored a hat trick to lead the Holy Angels Stars to a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Park Orioles Wednesday night at The Rec Center.
The Stars would shine in the first period with two goals. Cheeseman would score the first from the right side and Gabriel Perron put Holy Angels ahead by two on a power play goal.
The Orioles would cut the lead to one in the second period on Griffin Krone's right side goal. But Holy Angels would extend their lead with two straight goals from Cheeseman. The first would come on the power play and the second after he got a pass from Logan Ciresi, dribbled toward the center slot and fired the puck past St. Louis Park goalie Bennett Anderson. Krone would find a net for the second time for the Orioles and the Stars led 4-2 at the end of the second period.
Holy Angels would add one more to their ledger in the third period as Perron lined a shot from inside the right blue line and into the cage to wrap up the scoring.
The Stars improved their record to 3-1 and will host the St. Paul Academy Spartans on Thursday, December 7 at 7:30 at the Richfield Ice Arena.
The Orioles fell to 1-4 and will host the Bloomington Kennedy Eagles on Thursday, December 14 at 7 PM. The game will be play at The Rec Center's outdoor rink.
