Monday night, the seventh game of the season turned out to be a breakout game for the winless Chaska Hawks as Cooper Eidem and Gabe Friedbauer scored four goals apiece en route to a 14-1 rout over the host St. Louis Park Orioles.
The Orioles got in front on Parker Brynildson's shot that crawled into the goal. It would be the offensive highlight of the evening for St. Louis Park because the Hawks would take control with two first quarter goals. The first came on an inside pass from Dylan Lange to Friedbauer and he landed the ball into the net to tie the game. Lange would put Chaska ahead with :45.8 left in the quarter and the Hawks led 2-1.
Chaska would put the game away in the second quarter with five goals. Lange would make an inside pass to Friedbauer for the first goal. Eidem would tally twice and Friedbauer would pick up two assists, including a goal from Xavier Harvieux and the Hawks would lead 7-1 at halftime.
The Hawks were not done in the third quarter. Eidem would score the first goal and send the ball to Jacob Gasterland and he would fill the net with the white ball. Once again the Lange-Friedbauer tandem struck again for Chaska as Friedbauer made a high pass to Lange and he would put it past Oriole goalie Noah Hauser. Friedbauer would wrap up the third quarter scoring :42 later after he got a pass from Gasterlund and lined the ball to the net and it would be a 13-1 lead for the Hawks at the end of the third quarter.
Even members of the junior varsity team would break into the scoring column as the game headed into the fourth quarter., sending the game into running time. Kaiden Atteberry would strike first :28 into the quarter. Eidem would line his fourth ball into the St. Louis Park net and Gasterlund would conclude the scoring.
The Hawks ended a six game losing streak and improved their record to 1-6. They will host the Orono Spartans on Friday, May 10 at 7 PM. The Orioles fell to 0-9 and will get the rest of the week off, returning to action on Monday, May 13 at 4:30 PM as they head down I-35W to face the Burnsville Blaze.
